I figure that if we want to help the staff fix the problem, we should probably report relevant data.
Ever since the mysterious lag started, I've crashed quite often. I do know that atleast twice I have crashed as a direct result of recalling from a rune in my runebook. I've also crashed a number of times in combat, while using paladin spells. This leads me to believe that spells in general may be causing many of my client errors.
As for the lag, it does seem less obvious when there's very few people on, but there are still spikes. This leads me to think that the lag is caused by people somehow, like maybe specific scripts have something to do with people in certain time alotments, like a check of some kind or a status refresher, and when there's a lot of people on, that script has to run a lot so it sucks up all the shard's bandwidth or processing memory or something.
The spikes do seem somewhat regular, I just haven't nailed down a specific incrementation.

Not even 5 minutes ago, I casted Vampiric Embrace (to turn off being a vampire) and it caused a client error. And then it took forever for me to get back in.

As of yet I havent experienced any client crashes. But then again I don't use Razor, nor UOA and it's a pretty fresh install. As for lag spikes I do encounter those from time to time. I've had a few cases where I completed a quest and its like the client locks up. I can close it out and restart and then log back in. Not sure if that helps any..

I just did the Dark Scouts quest and crashed as the quest log button appeared after I killed the last scout. I had an IM I hadn't read yet, dunno if the crash was because of a conflict between the gumps but I think it's possible.

Raven Blackheart experienced a recall spell-caused crash just moments ago.

As I was recalling just now, my client crashed... and now I can't get to my shardlist! CUOD immediately crashes as I open it, and even when I use IE to go to the shardlist it just comes up with a bunch of error code in C# or C++, one of the two (omg I can actually recognize coding languages beyond the two I already know, what's the world coming to). I'll wager it's connectuo behind the crashes, and if I can't get back into MU to save myself from the dark mobs I just recalled into, I'm gonna commit suicide on youtube.
-> update Well, I got back in, but my CUOD doesn't seem to work right anymore. Now when I open it, also opens a browser window. When CUOD crashes as I get into MU, the browser window of my shardlist refreshes. Odd, indeed. I haven't changed any settings, I haven't even opened any settings of any kind... so I guess recalling did a huge number on my CUOD code or something.
--> double update So I got back in, and then I had a trade crash almost immediately. I got back in, but I had to use my browser instead of CUOD.

This all makes me leery of trying to play but I guess as long as I have not experienced any of the above lags and crashes lately, I should be brave and charge right in.

Just be sure to let us know if you crash, and explain what was happening when you crashed. It's when we recognize trends (like the recall crashes) that many people experience that the staff can take steps to troubleshoot, repair, and prevent.

There's been a few times that CUOD has opened in a browser window for me but then I realized that I already had a version of CUOD running, it just had minimized to the running applications area down by the time in the taskbar... Just a though of something to check next time it does that to ya.

There's been a few times that CUOD has opened in a browser window for me but then I realized that I already had a version of CUOD running, it just had minimized to the running applications area down by the time in the taskbar... Just a though of something to check next time it does that to ya. I can confirm that. However, I once had it where it would only load up as a page in my browser even though I hadn't changed it to that setting (there is an option for that). I had to reinstall with a different version I found, and it should be the same one you can download in one of the guides. As I was recalling just now, my client crashed... and now I can't get to my shardlist! CUOD immediately crashes as I open it, and even when I use IE to go to the shardlist it just comes up with a bunch of error code in C# or C++ As far as I know, that IS caused by CUOD (and it's C#) but it's crashing the .NET Framework for some reason. I have had this happen as well, but it usually works fine afterwards, however you might need to restart. I know that I have my own crashes, but I have always blamed Vista as the problems I have didn't really occur when I was on XP. (I don't hate Vista though, I actually like it) But I've learned to deal with them as they are no big deal to me (especially since I can get right back in). Keep posting though, I can't promise we can fix anything CUOD related at all, but if there's an item in game messing people up, now that we can fix.

Just had another recall crash, guess this means I have to go find the new ConnectUO before I start throwing furniture at people.

The lag lately has me so mad that I'm ready to submit my account for deletion. It's not on my end, it's not my ISP, and don't even try to say that I'm wrong because I've rebooted a million times, I've reset my router and modem, I've cleared my cache, my roommate has no internet problems, even XBox Live works fine and it's normally laggy, my third roommate has no problems, I can browse online with no issues while MU is lagging and booting me repeatedly, it's not effing me. I haven't updated CUOD in a while, but that's because last time I had to redownload it many, many, many times before it worked, but if someone can offer proof that it's CUOD causing the lag, I will update it.
So anyway, I'm going into semiretirement with Muad, MU isn't worth playing when I get kicked off a dozen times an hour.

I wish I could help you, because I know we have lag spikes and such, but none of us know why so there's nothing that can be done about it. Although, I myself do not have the problems you seem to be experiencing Roh. The worst I ever get is the basic lag spikes that happen, no disconnections constant freezing from lag.
As for the other day when the shard kept restarting (assuming you mean 1/2/09), that was because of an error with someone trying to log in and every time they tried it crashed. It's an encryption thing, which I'm not entirely sure how to fix especially since I don't know the person or what client they were using nor was I on for those crashes, etc. etc.
