I feel that cooking has an absurd amount of potential to be a lot more than it is. It would be amazing if the cooking system was expanded where you could mix almost anything with other things to get some new and interesting items. These new items wouldn't have to be food necessarily. Perhaps we could get strange new bombs or things to apply to weapons. Maybe we could make foods that when fed to an animal, causes interesting effects. This could also apply to alchemy easily. Any thoughts?

More potions and bombs would be alchemy. Basically any substance you make with cooking has to be made from food or food ingredients so unless we have more ingredients there's not an easy way to figure bombs into cooking.
Using a substance to give weapons a temporary effect would require more scripting than your average craftable. It's up to our scripters whether or not to take up the work.
I just wish UO had more options to make food. Not like cakes and pies (back in the day on OSI you could make like a million different pies) but like fishing up shrimp or something (and cooking them). I think the current net system is botched and I might just write some expansive material one day for someone to script but until I find items that look like what I want, I can't ask for it.
If you have ideas, please give details. Once you outline every detail of function, appearance, and everything else, a scripter might just pop over here and be like, "Omg I am so doing this."

haha. yeah the fish and cooking idea would be good. i just started cooking so I still dont know much...so yeah bombs and stuff certainly would fall into the alchemy category.
but i like the idea of more foods. i like the idea of cooking certain foods and combining them with either special incredients or potions to make the food have special effects on animals, tame or not...like they could become different animals or faster or have a temporary increase in strength...or maybe they would go into a rage and start fighting everything nearby...haha something.
maybe some foods could change your skin color or could cause your hitpoints to regen faster or something. i feel like there are more things but im drawing a blank right now.

Like potions that when ya gave to your pet had same effect as idols have on players, changing their look. Giving your Elder Unicorn a potion and it changes into a chicken lol that would be awesome i think

Transformative Unguent Colorful flask. Double click, target pet, pet becomes random form from a predetermined list (the polymorph lists aren't a bad idea). Pet does not retain mountability. Flask does not function on any targets except a player's pet. To change the pet back to its original bodyvalue, owner casts dispel and targets the transformed pet (alternate: owner uses [unchange command, targets pet). Cooking skill required: 118 Ingredients: 5 dragon dust, empty bottle, polymorph scroll

You can have any item you own renamed by getting enough vouchers and paging staff for an Item Name Change Deed.
