That's right, they actually have been working on it all this time. Who would have thought right? There was a nice post made by Jeff of ConnectUO/RunUO made today and can be seen HERE and it actually includes a nice status update with a PICTURE!!! I don't want to start a panic or a ton of excitement as I'm sure we won't see this for a couple more months, however, when it does come out, we will start testing it to prepare to switch to it as the main form of connection. Not only that, but when a stable version comes out that almost everyone can use, we will basically stop supporting ConnectUO/ConnectUO Desktop (just like how we don't support UO Gateway). Hopefully there won't be a need to have all the complex installation/connection guides to play Mystical Unicorn anymore, yay! It will be a magical day to lower bandwidth usage from people downloading installers and patches and the defunct ConnectUO Desktop, have people be able to connect without everyone having to post/page/PM/email with the same 3 issues that can't seem to be solved, not have to use Razor which modifies your actual client, be able to advertise through the connection program itself, and not have to focus on this as much. (That is a very long sentence, lol.) Let's all wish (and pray if you believe in that) for the eventual release of a wonderful connection program

I honestly don't see why a newer version of Razor would help you with that. It's not going to make a difference how you copy files to your UO directory...

As previously mentioned, ConnectUO 2 is on it's way! A progress report is detailed on the ConnectUO site, which is available from our website. Jeff has even said that we may see a Beta soon! Yay! The reason for this post though is that they have allowed server registration again, so I have added us to their list of UO servers. Now you don't have to go vote there (I don't think they even have an option), but once the beta testing has started, we will all be able to use the new ConnectUO 2 to try out on MU I can't wait to finally have a stable program to connect with so we don't have to constantly fight to patch and connect correctly.

Got your attention now have I? Good! Because there's SUPER BIG MASSIVE HUGE NEWS! Seems that the masterful Jeff of ConnectUO (the creator) is almost done with ConnectUO 2.0, and by almost I mean he expects to release it within the next few days! This means some serious changes for us because everyone will now have a hopefully stable way of connecting AND patching successfully every time. And just for information about the new ConnectUO, please read this forum post. Now for what is going to change, because things are GOING to change. As hopefully everyone knows, we don't really support UOGateway as a valid connection method anymore. Those of you who might still use it have been getting help almost exclusively from your own knowledge and the help of other UOG users. Well after awhile, if ConnectUO 2.0 proves to be a good connection/patching program, this is how we'll treat ConnectUO Desktop. Though the guides for using it will always be there, we'll more likely than not tell you to use ConnectUO 2.0. Of course this all only happens if ConnectUO 2.0 turns out to be really worthwhile. There are some really good new changes with the new CUO2, especially in the realm of patching. It's apparently much faster now and probably more reliable than before I've already updated the patching information for ConnectUO 2.0 for when it's released to the public and we WILL be providing you with links galore to download it and use it Anyways, I just wanted to let everyone know the great news! Keep watching for more updates!

No, we can add items, quests, etc without patches, just shard restarts. However, you will have to download the patches again, and I will try to make that as fast as possible using the new system they've created. And tomorrow when I have more free time and have experimented with it some, I'll post a nice long thread about it with information on how to use it
