Upon entering Britannia once more, I soon found a road to walk upon... which is no difficult task, as the mainland is absolutely covered with travelways.
Walking along this road, I came upon a fellow dressed in very dark, loose clothing... he simply stood there, wielding a pair of sai, occasionally taking a step on a random direction, looking around, then continuing.
As I drew close, I utilized a small amount of divinitation power, wielding a moonstone fragment before me, to discover that this strange fellow's name was Yoshimitsu... and he was guarding a valuable item.
As I approached, he dropped into combat stance and darted forward. I put my hands up defensively, to show that I had no weapons (as is the standard in most cultures), but he continued. Quickly, a darted between trees and into the woods, only to trip and stumble onto a strange fence around a spirit-filled graveyard, a site commonly found in Britannia.
As Yoshimitsu approached, another fellow in similar garb simply appeared between myself and my attacker, made a low swing and disabled Yoshimitsu. The wandering ninja fell quickly after the new ninja's blades cut through his jacket and into his chest a dozen times.
My heart pounding, my hands darting about my flowing red robes for more of my moonstones, I didn't notice the undead stumbling toward me from the graveyard's entrance. Fortunately, my savior did, and he was able to cut down the undead before they reached me.
Standing upright once more, the stranger pulled off his face covering, revealing a mischievious but definitely asian countenence. "Greetings, traveller. Do you rather enjoy stumbling upon your doom?"
Stunned, I could only respond with, "Well... n-no..." But I quickly gathered my wits. "It's not every day I'm surprised by Britannian vice. This land is so uncivilized..."
The ninja snorted in laughter, before guiding me further into the woods. "My name's Fuji... I travel the lands of Britannia every day and unfortunately, I am more than used to it. Of course, I dish quite a bit of 'vice' out, myself."
"...I'm Red, a scholar and teacher..." Clutching a moonstone, I added, knowingly, "you're a bandit?"
Fuji seemed incredibly startled but took a deep breath before responding. "I am. And I'm proud of it. Since Lord British vanished and the Avatar left our realms to fight Minax afar, there's simply no order here, and every man fends for himself."
I shook my head slowly as we walked, knowing we were headed to where he had set up camp. But as the tent came into view, my moonstone quickly told me that there were other forces at work here.
As I opened my mouth to question the ninja, I was forced to the ground. Turning my head upward to face my foes, the last thing I saw was the tar-black face of a fanged demon before I lost consciousness, burning with frustration and a bad headache.
...To be continued.
Who is Red? Where did he come from? Why is a demon working with a ninja to kidnap him? You'll have to wait and see...
I love my longrunning characters.
